Our Guide to the 6 Warmest Crib Sheets for 2021!

The best way to keep your baby or toddler cozy during cold nights is with a warm crib sheet set.

With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to find the perfect one. Don’t worry; I’ve done all the work for you.

Now that winter’s here (or coming soon), it’s the perfect time to shop for some warming crib sheets.

I’ve narrowed it down to my six favorites to help you which one will be perfect for your little bundle of joy for years to come. I didn’t just choose them because they’re warm and cuddly – but because they are made with eco-friendly and safe materials.

The 6 Warmest Crib Sheets for 2021

1- Best Crib Sheets for Winter; Newton

I want to start with the Newton crib sheets, which are the warmest crib sheets I’ve tested so far. The 100% organic muslin cotton is a nice touch that you will only appreciate once you try them.

Another of my favorite advantages to these sheets is that they have been pre-shrunk to size, so they will never shrink after you wash them. I also like that these sheets are breathable and hypoallergenic, and didn’t cause any allergic reactions so far.

Finally, Newton fitted crib sheets have an all-around elastic which ensures it stays nice and snug through the night.

2- Best Flannel Crib Sheets; TillYou

If you’re looking for the perfect flannel crib sheets for winter, these from TillYou are the way to go! The material is 100% natural cotton but doesn’t feel rough or scratchy against your skin – even when you’re freezing. This makes them an excellent choice for families with babies who have sensitive skin!

I loved the feel of these sheets. They were made with thick fabric, and had the perfect amount of fluff to them (not too much or too little). While they came in several different colors, I decided to go with gray as that matched our baby’s room the best.

This crib sheet fits our standard-sized crib mattress perfectly. I didn’t have to worry about the elastic band stretching out or being too tight and not fitting over the corners of the mattress (which is a common problem with many other sheets). It was also very soft and comfortable!

While the TillYou flannel baby sheets weren’t any warmer than cotton ones, I did find that they were much cozier and softer when my son was sleeping in them. They made him feel warm, secure, comfortable, and relaxed – which is really all you can ask for from a crib sheet!

3- Best Jersey Knit Crib Sheets; Luvberries

The next crib sheets I would recommend for warmth are these by Luvberries. They’re made with 100% GOTS-Certified organic cotton. Using jersey knit makes them lighter and softer than flannel crib sheets. And they can help keep your baby comfy throughout the year.

The Luvberries crib sheets are both beautiful and high-quality. I love the feel of this sheet – so soft! Jersey knit cotton is soft and a little stretchy, so not only will it fit most size crib mattresses round, but your baby will be comfortable too!

Finally, the elastic all around the fitted sheet makes sure it fits snugly on your mattress, and the fun prints are sure to make you smile every time you see them.

4- Best Crib Sheet with Mattress Protector; Lilly Belly

If you’re looking for a crib sheet and mattress protector that will both keep your baby warm and dry, then these by Lilly Belly are perfect for you.

I love that these are certified by Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and OEKO TEX. Both certifications make them safe for my newborn, and I’m comfortable knowing they won’t have any harsh chemicals on them. They’re made with 100% jersey cotton and soft to the touch.

The elastic straps on all sides of this crib sheet keep it snug enough for your baby’s mattress protector, so you don’t have to worry about leaks or any damage to your mattress. And if the water spills onto the crib, with the waterproof-sided mattress protector underneath his sheets, you won’t have to worry about dry-cleaning anymore.

5- Best for Mini Cribs; Cambria

My next favorite are the Cambria baby bed sheets which are perfect for portable cribs and mini mattresses. They are also great if you have a nursery and want to use them in a playard.

It is made from organic cotton, which is safer for the environment and ensures that your child sleeps on something healthy and comfortable. There are no harmful chemicals or toxic dyes, and they are machine washable!

Finally, the strong elastic keeps the sheet snug on smaller crib mattresses without being too saggy.

6- Best Bassinet Fitted Sheet; Nodnal

The last crib sheet I want to recommend for warmth are these by Nodnal Co. They are, in fact, the same sheets that I use for my baby’s bassinet.

They are made of 100% jersey cotton and give a soft touch thanks to their elastic banding. This helps keep the sheet in place without requiring you to fight with it as you put your baby down for bed.

I love that these sheets are so generously sized: 16 “x32″ x4”. It ensures a snug fit on larger mattresses as well as extra length when you put your baby down. The elastic banding also ensures that these sheets will not fall off – perfect for the winter months and those tricky nights where they just can’t seem to stay in place no matter how much you fix them!

Another feature I love about the Nodnal bassinet sheets is they are so easy to care for. You can toss them right in the washer and dryer, and they will wash and dry without any shrinkage nor loss of their softness or elasticity.

What to Look for in a Crib Sheet for warmth:

There are several essential features to keep in mind when looking for winter crib sheets.

Organic: First off, look for 100% organic baby sheets. These are breathable, hypoallergenic, and will stay soft and cozy over time. Plus, they are safe from any harmful chemicals or residue.

Pilling: If you’re anything like me, you hate when clothes pill! Luckily, there’s a way to avoid this with your crib sheets. Look for ones made with a pilling-resistant finish like these by Threadbare. Not only do they last longer and stay soft and cozy, but you won’t have to replace them as frequently because of the added durability.

Thread Count: Next, look for crib sheets with a high thread count. This will make your baby’s crib the snuggliest place in the world. Some can even have an impressive 400+ thread count, but anything around 250tc should be fine.

Breathability: Pleasant dreams start with breathable crib sheets. Some fabrics are more breathable than others. For example, Jersey cotton has better airflow and will help keep your baby dryer through the night compared to flannel.

All-Around Elastic: Make sure the corners of your crib sheets can be secured with all-around elastic. This will help prevent them from slipping off and onto the floor during changing, feeding, or other baby duties.

Care Instructions: Not all materials have the same care requirements. Some fabrics will last longer with regular washing & drying, while others require delicate handling to maintain color and integrity. If you are unsure of what your crib sheets need, check the tags before purchasing.

Warranty: Lastly, look for a guarantee that backs up the quality of your sheets. If you experience problems with the stitching or any other manufacturing defects, the company should stand behind their product with replacements or a refund.

What to Look for in a Crib Sheet for safety:

It’s important to choose a crib sheet made with safe and chemical-free materials, especially since your baby will be spending a significant amount of time sleeping on it. Some fabrics are more potentially harmful than others, so read the tags before you make your selection.

Beware of Vinyl: Most vinyl crib sheets contain phthalates linked to increased risks for SIDS and other diseases in children. [1]

Be Cautious of BPA: BPA is an industrial chemical found in vinyl, plastics, and other common household products. Be sure to choose a crib sheet made without this potentially harmful substance.

Choose Organic: Besides being healthier for your baby, organic materials are also better for the environment. I always look for the GOTS certification on baby textiles because it ensures the materials are high quality, free from harmful chemicals, and safe for babies. Currently, there is no regulation regarding using the term “organic” in baby products, so always look for a GOTS or OEKO-TEX label to ensure that your crib sheets are genuinely organic.

Choose Natural: Some crib sheet manufacturers use synthetic fabrics like polyester or microfiber, which contain harmful chemicals such as phthalates, BPA, and PVCs. These substances can irritate your baby’s skin (and yours too!). When possible

Fasten with Snaps: Snaps are far superior to buttons when it comes to babyproofing your home. This way, you don’t have to worry about choking hazards from loose buttons (there are several instances of children being strangled on buttons). Plus, snaps will last longer than a button over time.

JPMA Certified: The last thing to consider is which certification your baby safety gear carries. Look for the JPMA seal of approval on all of your baby equipment, including cribs and mattress pads. This helps ensure they meet industry-wide safety guidelines and will give you peace of mind that you’re buying a safe product for your little one to use.
