I usually get a sore neck when I watch TV in bed, especially if it’s a long movie. The Cascadia sit-up pillow provided the relief I was looking for and so much more! I especially like the removable cup holders on the armrests. I can fit both my phone and the TV remote in one and my drink in the other.

It is very soft compared to other sit-up pillows I’ve tried and light enough to carry around the house if needed. You can use it on your couch as well, but I have a dedicated sit-up pillow already in my living room.

What I liked:

  • Removable Cup Holders
  • Soft, Comfortable Fabric
  • Great for Back Support

What could be improved?

  • They could have added a separate pouch for the remote

I’ve always loved reading in bed and would use a bunch of pillows to prop myself up to get comfortable. And if I fell asleep with the pillows propping me up, I would wake up with a sore back and neck. I found the Avana orthopedic sit-up pillow and decided to give it a try.

This pillow is an absolute lifesaver! No more sore neck or back from sitting up in bed for too long.

Since I’ve been using sit-up pillows all around the house, I only thought it’s fair to get one for my kids as well. My kids love to use my adult-sized sit up pillows, but they are way too big for them and heavy as well.

I found these by Milliard to be perfect for them! The size is just right, not too big, and not too heavy. Not only that, but it’s soft and comfortable to sleep on. My kids love reading in bed before going to sleep, so this gives a bit more comfort while doing their thing.

They are available in two colors; Pink and Blue. Of course, I had to get one of each for my kids. They have a small handle on the top and are covered in faux fur.

What I liked:

  • Soft faux fur
  • Perfect size for kids
  • Adjustable memory foam

What I didn’t like:

  • Only available in two colors

Who Needs a Sit Up Pillow?

There are several reasons why someone might need a sit-up pillow. Some of the most common uses include:

  • Reading in Bed
  • Watching TV from Bed
  • Sleeping with Your Child or Pet

If you plan on reading or watching TV in bed, then you’ll need a sit-up pillow. The biggest reason for this is that supporting your head and neck takes away the strain of lying down flat, often leading to discomfort or pain after long periods of time.

Different Types of Sit Up Pillows

Sit Up Pillows for Reading

If you’re only using your sit up pillow to read, then you’ll want to go for one with a smaller profile. This will ensure that the pillow isn’t too bulky for you to use as a reading pillow.

Sleeping Sit Up Pillows

If you plan on using your sit-up pillow to sleep, I recommend getting one with soft armrests and a firm backrest that will allow for a variety of comfortable sleeping positions. But if you plan on sharing the pillow with someone else or an animal, then it’s best not to get something too firm as it can be uncomfortable.

Sit Up Pillows with or without Armrests

Sit-up pillows with armrests are my personal favorite because they allow you to relax completely. You can rest your arms on the soft padding and prop them up so that it’s easier for blood flow to reach your hands, elbows, hips, knees, etc. It also gives off a more relaxed vibe than sitting upright, which is more common in public places.

If you don’t like armrests or have room for them, I recommend getting a pillow with just back support instead. The main benefit of these pillows is that they are lighter than full sit-up pillows and easier to move around the house or bring on trips. Plus, there’s nothing to stop you from using a small throw pillow for your arms.

Sit Up Pillows with Backrests

If you’re looking for a more structured back support, then I recommend getting one that has an actual stand-alone backrest instead of armrests. The benefit to this is that it provides more stability and better overall posture while still allowing you to relax in bed or on the

Memory Foam Sit Up Pillows

If you’re looking for something that will provide maximum comfort, I recommend checking out pillows with memory foam in them. The reason being is because they are specifically designed to mold around your body which makes it more

Conclusion

The best sit-up pillows allow you to comfortably read, watch TV, and sleep without any discomfort or strain on your neck or back.

If reading is all that you plan on doing with the pillow, go for a smaller profile. However, if your goal is to watch television in bed, then get something with a larger backrest. And if you plan on sleeping with your sit up pillow, your best best is to get one with soft armrests and firm back support.
